Japanese art glass Natsume tea caddy by Kuniaki Kuroki (b. 1945). - Heisei Period. Circa 2000. One of Japan’s leading glass artists and pioneers. Kuniaki Kuroki is the recipient of numerous Japanese and international awards, and has exhibited his work throughout the world. His work continues to fascinate people at home and abroad, expressing natural beauty and traditional Japanese aesthetics found in paintings and other classical works of art. The tea caddy and cover is of cylindrical form. The handblown glass body is decorated with gold leaf, with orange and green glass droplets on the turquoise coloured glass ground. The rims with metal mounts; signed to the base 'Kuniaki'. The tea caddy is complete with its inscribed tomobako wood box, which is titled and signed by the artist. In excellent condition. No damage to the art glass. A vase by the same maker is also available.
