Extremely Rare George III Serpentine Tea Caddy, Made by Hester Bateman

The Tea Caddy is modelled in the rare serpentine shaped form and the sides are beautifully engraved with bluebell garlands. The upper and lower sections display bright cut and prick dot horizontal bands. The front of the main body displays a vacant oval cartouche, with tied ribbons above. The flat hinged cover is engraved with bright cut and prick dot bands and terminates in a beautifully modelled pineapple finial - a symbol of wealth and status at this date. The Tea Caddy is in quite excellent condition and is fully marked on the base and with the maker's mark and sterling mark on the cover.
