Regency Tea Caddy Decorated with Penwork

About

A superb Regency period penwork tea caddy of sarcophagus form; the tea caddy's lid decorated with a coat of arms and the sides with butterflies and flowers including lilies, foxgloves and roses surrounded by scrolling acanthus leaves; the tea caddy's beautifully decorated interior is fitted with two canisters which each have an 'N' to the lid and the sides are decorated with roundels; raised on ball feet. We purchased this tea caddy from a private collector who only chose objects of exceptional quality and this tea caddy is decorated with some of the finest penwork I have ever seen. The penwork is in excellent condition and is unusually detailed. The attention to detail can be seen in the sides of the pull-out canisters also being decorated with penwork, normally they are left plain.
