Tortoiseshell Tea Caddy


A mid-19th century tortoiseshell tea caddy, the top with rounded edge, and blank cartouche, the top veneered in panels, divided by Fine metal stringing. The front edge serpentine to follow the shape of the main body. The main body also with serpentine from keyhole escutcheon, and Fine metal stringing between the veneered panels. The plinth with a shaped profile and four bun feet. The interior with ivory veneered edging, two tea compartments with tortoiseshell lids.
