Impressive Floor-size Candelabrum in turned Maple designed by Nanna Ditzel in the 1970s. An extraordinary installment and an exquisite home * A candelabrum in turned maple wood fit for 8 candles. * Designer: Nanna Ditzel * Producer: Brd. Krüger trædrejeri, Denmark * Year: 1970 * Condition: Very good vintage condition with only very few marks. Stamp intact. * Dimensions (W x H): 52cm x 52cm ************** Nanna Ditzel graduated from the School of Arts and Crafts in Copenhagen in 1946 and initially worked in the field of furniture design with her husband, Jørgen Ditzel. Together, they created several notable pieces, including the iconic "Trinidad Chair" (1948), which became a symbol of Danish modernism. In the 1950s, Ditzel ventured into textile design, collaborating with renowned manufacturers like Georg Jensen and Fredericia Furniture. She experimented with innovative techniques and materials, creating imaginative and sculptural textile patterns that became her trademark. Her textiles often showcased organic shapes, vibrant colors, and intricate patterns. Apart from furniture and textile design, Nanna Ditzel also designed jewelry, tableware, and interior spaces. Her work encompassed a wide range of materials, including wood, metal, glass, and textiles. She drew inspiration from nature, organic forms, and traditional craftsmanship, infusing her designs with a sense of timelessness and elegance. Throughout her career, Nanna Ditzel received numerous awards and accolades for her contributions to design. Her work was exhibited worldwide, and her designs are included in the collections of prestigious museums, such as the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Nanna Ditzel was a pioneering female Danish designer, and her legacy and influential contributions to Danish and Scandinavian design continue to inspire and influence designers around the world.
