Paavo Tynell Candelabra, 1960s
About the Item
In addition to his iconic brass lamps, Paavo Tynell (1890-1973) designed candle holders and othe metal items. This candle holder is such an example and was handmade late in his career by Paavo Tynell himself. After retiring from making lamps, Tynell continued making these candleholders in his own workshop at his garage in Tuusula. They were retailed in many stores in Finland, most notably Stockmann.
This minimalistic tinned metal candleholder is in really good condition and serves as a beautiful centerpiece on any design oriented table. Not to mention that no. 5 in numerology represents change and the ability to go with the flow. What a marvelous conversation starter on your dinner table.

Paavo Tynell
Paavo Tynell, who was born in Helsinki, Finland in 1890, started his career as a tin- and blacksmith at the company Kory Oy. Simultaneously, he studied at the Helsinki University of Industrial Arts, from which he graduated as a master craftsman in 1913. In 1918, Tynell co-founded the metalwork and lighting company Oy Taito Ab. At first, the company focused mostly on interior and exterior metalwork, such as statues and railings. Later, during the 1930s, Taito also began producing lamps for the lighting sector. Both Alvar Aalto and Kaj Franck would design works for the company.
