Pair of Antique Meissen Porcelain Woodpeckers, Now Mounted as Candelabra

About the Item

Each bird is modeled on a stump applied with plants and moss. They are naturalistically modeled with colorful plumage. The birds are mid-19th century at latest. The bronze mounts are early 20th century modeled as stylized acanthus and support three candle arms. They have a patinated bronze finish. The mark is very like the Marcolini except that it has the extra dot and the swords go down. The expert we have consulted believes that they are Meissen as do we. It seems to me that the mark would be less ambiguous if they were later.
