About the Item
An elegant and most charming pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. Ormolu candelabras. Each most attractive candelabra is supported on a circular mottled Ormolu base decorated by swaging beaded garlands and a reeded band below the stout fluted plinth above. Atop the fluted plinth is a squared tapered shaft with swaging floral garland decorations. The rosette decorated block above holds the two 'S' scrolling foliate designed arms on either side. At the end of each arm are flower pedal bobeches below the egg and dart and berried laurel patterned candle cup. Above the rosette decorated block is a squared socle that displays the bust of an adorable cherub.
