About the Item

A stunning and monumental pair of French early 18th century Régence Period seven arm ormolu candelabras. Each statement making candelabra is raised by a striking mottled circular base with fabulous fluted and scrolled foliate patterns. The elegant central support displays rich and wonderfully detailed foliate movements in an exceptional satin and burnished finish. Branching out from a most decorative central acanthus leave adorned fut, the six S scrolled arms are richly chased and decorated with lavish floral and foliate designs leading to most impressive candle cups and fine bobeches. Above is a finely executed, detailed spray with three charming flowers supporting the top central candle cup. All original gilt.
