Pair Of Italian Eight-Armed Bronze Silver-plated Candelabra With Gilded Putti

About the Item

Pair Of Silvered And Gilded Bronze Eight-Armed Table Candlesticks from the second half of the 1800s made with exuberant rocaille decoration rich in sinuous curves and plant motifs held up by two gilded angels. The two imposing nineteenth-century Italian candlesticks have baluster stems supported by cupids, eight volute arms, and are an extraordinary example of nineteenth-century Italian craftsmanship, attentive to detail and careful chiseled finishing of floral details. The shaped, polylobed bases, supported by four leafy feet, lend stability and royalty to the candelabra, while the arrangement of eight candle-holder arms in three tiers creates a pyramidal effect that enhances the lightness of the ornamental elements. The result is both monumental because of the size of the large candlesticks and harmonious. The choice of a two-tone finish that combines the silvering of the frame with the gilding of the two putti seated on a rock creates a fascinating color contrast that visually enriches these wavy-shaped Italian centerpieces with foliate and interlaced ramage patterns. The design of the flat, depth-free back makes it perfect for use in confined spaces such as consoles or wall-mounted tables. From northern Italy, they are in perfect condition. From Northern Italy a rare set of six 18th century gilt wrought iron arms, candle holders, hanging lantern brackets suitable as sconces, if you wire them. These iron arms are fully handmade with curved scrolling iron structure, decorated with  elegant gilt wrought iron acanthus leaves and gildwood balls and bobeches.. Good age related condition, the six arms have the same shape and structure but slightly different sizes, with minor losses, missing giltwood balls in four of item. The gilding of the arms is in good condition, excellent feature in case of their use as sconces, overturning the irons compared to their original use. Some small lacks in the leaves of the crowns of the bobeches, as visible in the picture details. Northern Italy, 1700.
