Vintage Sterling Silver Three Light Candelabrum (1962)

About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive vintage Elizabeth II English sterling silver three light candelabrum; an addition to our ornamental silverware collection This exceptional vintage sterling silver candelabrum has a circular baluster form onto a square shaped foot. This sterling silver candelabrum is fitted with scrolling arms, which support baluster capitals surmounting dished drip pans. The original detachable hallmarked push fit sconces and drip pans are embellished with embossed scrolling leaf decorated borders. The candelabrum features two reed decorated scrolling arms (labra), enveloped with leaf ornamentation. This exceptional example of vintage silverware is ornamented with a knop to the lower portion of the tapering cylindrical column, bearing the same decoration as that to the capitals and drip pans. The weighted base has an incurved square-shaped form, encompassed with further leaf decoration to a swept rim, and is fitted with a panel of green baize to the underside. Condition This vintage sterling silver candelabrum is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. Each piece has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition. The embossed decoration is all sharp. Full hallmarks struck to the rim of the base and part hallmarks to the sleeve of the sconce are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.     An exceptional, fine and impressive pair of vintage Elizabeth II English sterling silver three light candelabra; an addition to our ornamental silverware collection. These fine vintage Elizabeth II sterling silver candelabra have a panelled hexagonal form, in the classic early 18th English style. Each impressive candelabrum retains the original hallmarked detachable push fit scrolling arms, which support circular baluster shaped capitals surmounting plain hallmarked dished drip pans. Each candelabrum is fitted with three labra conjoined to with a central baluster shaped finial. These versatile vintage candelabra can be used with three lights or as candlesticks once the arms (labra) are detached. The panelled waisted column of each candlestick is embellished with a rounded knop to the lower portion. The hexagonal swept foot incorporates a subtle plain circular sunken well. Each candelabrum does not have a weighted base. These exceptional candelabra were crafted by the renowned London silversmith Richard Comyns of William Comyns & Sons Ltd. Condition These vintage sterling silver candlesticks are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The components have been professionally polished and are in presentation condition. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of each base and part hallmarks to the sleeve of each labra are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.
