Pair of Vintage French Wall Candle Sconces in Bronze in the Style of Louis XVI
About the Item
A beautiful pair of vintage, wall candle sconces in a classic Louis XVI style. These sconses are made of heavy, molded, bronze/copper alloy. They are identical and none of them features any maker's marks. The pair has been sourced in France and dates from the 1960/70s.
This classic, French design with tassels is referred to as "cord" (i.e. rope). Traditionally, these two wall candle sconces are ment to be displayed symmetrically on each side of a painting, furniture piece or mirror. They are as decorative and elegant when not lit as they are with burning candles.
In very good vintage condition. In order to save the beautiful patina, the wall candle sconces have only been cleaned, not polished. They can of course be polished if so wanted. They show minor signs of wear and oxidation consistent with age (see photos).
