Mid-19th Century Italian Carved Polychrome and Gilt Candle Holder Floor Lamp

About the Item

Standing at 6 feet tall, this antique torchere was crafted in Italy, circa 1860. The elegant candle holder stands on a wide triangular base ending with bun feet over a tripod bottom decorated with scroll and shell motifs in high relief. The large stem is decorated with floral, swag and acanthus leaf motifs and embellished at the shoulder with a bobeche and cup sleeve holding the decorative wax candle. The Neoclassical Italian fixture is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns the original polychrome and gold leaf finish. Candle included. The tall fixture could also be wired with lights, and use as a wonderful floor lamp. Measures: 29.5" W x 29.5" D x 72" H.
