About the Item

A stunning true pair of Italian 18th century Venetian giltwood and polychrome torchières. Each impressive and life sized torchières raised by a wonderfully executed tripod base with a most decorative black polychrome rock design. Standing above are the richly carved and intricately detailed beautiful maidens each draped in a flowing fabric. They each display striking facial expressions and hold up a reeded candle cup above their heads. Rich satin and burnished finish and all original gilt throughout.
