About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive pair of antique George V English sterling silver candlesticks; an addition to our antique silverware collection. These exceptional, fine and impressive antique George V sterling silver candlesticks have a plain elongated octagonal panelled form onto a spreading base, in the desirable piano style. The panelled capitals retain the original hallmarked detachable push fit sconce ornamented with a plain moulded rim. The capitals are supported by tapering columns, ornamented to the upper portion with a plain panelled knop. The lower portion of each column features a plain knop to a spreading flute decorated elongated octagonal foot, ornamented bands of reed decoration. These sterling silver candle holders have weighted bases and bear green baize coverings to the undersides. These piano style sterling silver candlesticks are a refined gift for weddings, anniversaries or housewarmings. Their classic design complements both vintage and contemporary interiors, making them ideal for display on a dining table, sideboard or mantelpiece. Condition These antique piano style candlesticks are an excellent gauge of silver, excellent quality and in excellent condition. Each component has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of each base, in addition to part hallmarks to each sconce sleeve are all very clear. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this example of antique silverware. A fine and impressive, pair of antique George VI English sterling silver candlesticks; part of our ornamental silverware collection. These impressive antique 1930s English sterling silver candlesticks have a plain subtly tapering columnar form. The impressive Corinthian capital of each retains the original hallmarked detachable push fit sconce ornamented with embossed bead decoration to the rim. The subtly tapering panelled columns are supported by a circular boss to a square swept foot. The base of each candlestick is embellished with a band of embossed floral rosette and bud garlands, flanked with bead decorated borders. Both candlesticks have weighted bases and are fitted with green baize to the underside.
