Antique George V Sterling Silver Piano Candlesticks (1911)

About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive set of four of antique George V English sterling silver piano candlesticks; an addition to our antique silverware collection. These exceptional, fine and impressive antique George V sterling silver piano candlesticks have a cylindrical form onto a square spreading base. The Corinthian capital of each retains the original hallmarked detachable push fit sconce, ornamented with an embossed bead decorated border to the rim. The capitals are supported by a classic column, encircled with vertical fluted decoration. The lower portion of each column features a plain rounded knop to a spreading square base. The surface of the bases are each ornamented with embossed scrolling leaf and stylised bud swag designs. The rims are encompassed with bead decoration above further fluted designs, reflecting that of the column. Each of these impressive sterling silver piano candle holders have weighted bases and bear green baize coverings to the undersides. Condition These antique silver candle holders are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. Each component has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of each base and part hallmarks to each sconce sleeve are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this example of antique silverware.     A magnificent, exceptional, fine and impressive, pair of large antique Georgian English sterling silver architectural column candlesticks; part of our ornamental silverware collection. These magnificent antique Georgian English sterling silver candlesticks have a plain subtly tapering columnar form. The large and impressive Corinthian capital of each candlestick retains the original hallmarked detachable push fit sconce ornamented with a plain moulded rim. The cylindrical columns are supported by a cuboid plinth to an impressive plain square stepped three tier base. Each plinth is embellished with a fine and impressive bright cut engraved coat of arms depicting the Head family coat of arms encircled with a belt accented with the family motto 'Study Quiet'. The bases retain the original contemporary engraved inscription 'A token of respect from Francis Head to her aunt Dame Mary Ann Head. 1803' to the lowest tier. Both candlesticks are fitted with turned mahogany bases to the underside. These magnificent Georgian candlesticks were crafted by George Eadon, George Kibbles & John Weaver of George Eadon & Co.
