Art Deco Brass Calla Lily Candle Holder by Carl-Einar Borgström for Ystad-Metall

About the Item

This rare Art Deco Swedish Grace candle holder, designed by Carl-Einar Borgström, takes the form of a calla lily and is crafted from brass by Ystad-Metall in the 1940s. Each piece is monogrammed with Borgström's initials, "CEB," and the Ystad-Metall maker's mark. ABOUT CARL-EINAR BORGSTRÖM Carl-Einar Borgström (1914-1981) was a Swedish sculptor, painter, and illustrator, born in Ystad, Sweden. He studied at the Technical School (1931-35) and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts (1935-37). Borgström began working at Ystad-Metall at the age of 15 and collaborated with them throughout much of his life. Although also a painter and illustrator, he is best known for his work as a sculptor, creating pieces in silver, bronze, brass, plaster, and wood. He also designed glassware for Björkhult's glassworks during his career.

    Wear consistent with age and use. There are some scratches and cosmetic wear on the inside of the candle holder. A few minor dents are present along the edges of the lily, though they are barely noticeable. Please refer to the photos for more details.
