Edwardian Period Pair of Sterling Silver Neoclassical-Style Candlesticks

About the Item

Edwardian Period, pair of sterling silver, Neoclassical-Style candlesticks, Birmingham, England, year-hallmarked for 1909, H. Matthews - maker. Each candlestick stands 5 1/2 inches high x 3 inches wide (at widest point) x 3 inches deep (at deepest point). The base of each candlestick is decorated with ram's heads and swags. This motif is also continued on the top part of the column of each candlestick. The corners of the base of each candlestick are rounded in design. The underside of each candlestick is covered in green felt. The candlesticks are weighted. There are some very minor dints (see photos) that are commensurate with age and use. Dark areas on sterling silver in photos are reflections. In very good antique condition.
