Flemish Carved Pricket Candlestick with Putti Late 16th or Early 17th Century

About the Item

A beautifully carved antique Flemish wooden pricket candlestick with putti dating from the late 16th or early 17th century. The floor standing candlestick has a round bowl shaped top with the central spike candle holder, the top supported by three stretching putti standing on a central column adorned with swags adorning four square shaped columns arranged around a central column. The candlestick stands on a tripod base with further carved leaf applications and with lion paw carved feet. The pricket candlestick has a wonderful aged natural dark patina with wear associated with age and use over the centuries. Provenance: Acquired from the UK art market. In good condition with professional restoration to the top bowl and a few of the other elements although not evident and mentioned for accuracy.
