Incredibly rare candle holder stick, ceramic workshop Karau Art Nouveau Austria

About the Item

This beautiful ceramic object is a piece of Austrian craftsmanship history - the Karau workshops have produced very little, but high-quality objects. For this reason, this candlestick is a real specialty, there were only four verifiable designers for Karau - this one was designed by Fritz Pohl. A column rises on a circular base, flanked by two putti, which then divides into two candlestick arms. Everything is masterfully crafted with wonderful impressive details. The reddish yellow shard is glazed with various colors - the light blue looks as if a thick layer of snow is indicated. On the underside are various numbers for the model, designer, etc. and the brand of the workshops Karau and Austria. Measurements approx.: height 9,45 in – 24 cm, width 4,92 in – 12,5 cm, depth 4,72 in – 12 cm Literature: This object is also published (with illustration on page 40): Werkstätten Karau-Wien, Peter Hieke u. Franz M. Bogner, 2020, myMorawa An absolutely exceptional piece of Austrian ceramics history, worthy of a museum collection, exquisitely made and in impressive condition.
