About the Item
A stunning and high quality pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. Vert de Patricia marble and Ormolu cassolette candlesticks. Each cassolette is supported by a three sided Vert de Patricia marble base with inverted sides and an Ormolu bottom plate. Each cassolette is raised by three curved Ormolu legs atop a mottled base and supported by hoof feet. The reeded designed legs have a circular central stretcher with additional reeded designs, rosettes and wonderful ram's heads above. The central fut displays a patinated Bronze snake with defined scales leading to the Ormolu acanthus leaf spray top capital. The round Vert de Patricia marble body is decorated with beaded and acanthus leaf Ormolu bands around the neck just below the removable lid. The lids showcase stunning acorn finials and lift to reveal the finished interior.
