Pair of French 19th Century Louis XVI St. Marble and Ormolu Cassolettes
About the Item
An elegant pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. Vert de Patricia marble and ormolu cassolettes. Each cassolette is raised by a marble triangular base with concave sides and cut corners with lovely ormolu topie shaped feet and a delicate wrap around beaded band. At the center are three lightly curved supports with handsome hoof feet adorned with fine acanthus leaves centering a striking inverted foliate finial. Superb richly chased rams heads in a remarkable satin and burnished finish encase the Vert de Patricia marble body with most decorative swaging beaded garlands tied at rosettes. Above a reeded and mottled ormolu band at the rim is the removable lid with beautiful foliate designs and a topie shaped finial which can be reserves to reveal a mottled and beaded candle cup.
