Rare Pair Of Gilt Bronze Empire French Candlesticks After Thomire

About the Item

"Rare Pair Of Gilt Bronze Empire French Candlesticks After Thomire" This fine pair of Empire French candlesticks has a lot of eye catching and beautifully carved decorations. To begin with, the bobeches have a detailed geometrical decoration. Further, the cups below them have the shape of a flower bud, with a shiny gilded base and matte gilded decorations of leaves on top. This top part rests on a basket filled with fruit and leaves. The basket itself consists of two shiny gilded rings and between them finely carved decorations of flowers and dots. Finally the base of this pair of French candlesticks after Thomire has decorations of grapevines and baskets filled with flowers. Also the decorations on the base have a shiny gilded ring in the middle. This makes this pair of French candlesticks very special. This fine pair of French candlesticks is very elegant and decorative, mainly because of the variety and beauty of the decorations in both matte and shiny gilding. The design reminds us of similar models by Pierre-Philippe Thomire (1751-1843). This pair of French candlesticks is executed in mercury gilded bronze of a high manufacturing quality with original matte and glossy gilding and beautifully detailed carving. They are in a very good condition.
