Unusual Pair of Victorian Period Sterling Silver Column-Form Candlesticks

About the Item

Unusual pair of Victorian Period, sterling silver, column-form candlesticks, Birmingham, England, year-hallmarked for 1895, William Davenport - maker. Each candlestick measures 5 inches high x approximately 2 3/4 inches wide (at widest point) x approximately 2 3/4 inches deep (at deepest point). The gracefully curved base of each candlestick is bordered by swirls and flowers. The fluted column of each candlestick is topped by a candle cup that has the same motif on its border. The underside of each candlestick is covered in red felt that shows some very, very light signs of use (see photos) that are commensurate with age and use. The pair of candlesticks is weighted. Dark areas on sterling silver in photos are reflections. In very good antique condition.
