An Impressive French carriage clock in an engraved corniche style case, repeat striking on a bell and with an alarm function. It’s high quality and circa mid 19th century , c1860-70. , The dial is signed by the retailers Mackay Cunningham & Co, Edinburgh, they were in business by 1856. The engraved panels are what set this apart. The movement strikes on a bell which is typical of the period. The escapement is a lever platform. The back and sides are very nicely engraved, The bell-striking 8-day movement has an alarm function, and repeats on depressing a button on the top of the case. The perfect white enamel dial has a slightly rubbed signature for the original retailer Mackay Cunningham & Co., a jewellers in Edinburgh, the partnership formed by James Mackay & David Cunningham...
