About the Item

Antique Swedish Mora clock from early 1800s in probable original paint with a great decorative shape body and a good face with lots of detail and a very ornate hood. It has the most exceptional quality chinoiserie handpainting in delicate gold on black that we have ever found and is an amazing piece. It unusually has very detailed painted scenes on the side of the body too and a rare black face The clock body paint with subtle gold detailing has the usual wood movement and paint distressing found in clocks of this age. We will fit a battery chiming mechanism to the clock for you as the original mechanisms are very unreliable. We can do this without any damage to the clock and you will still receive the original clock mechanism separately 'as is' with the clock to keep in a cupboard.  please note - wood is a live substance and may change shape when it moves to a new environment with a different median temperature and humidity after shipping. This may cause splits to occur in panels after the clock has grown accustomed to its new home

    Repaired: it have probably had some small repairs during its lifetime. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. Minor structural damages. Minor fading. The clock has some paint distressing and it is structurally sound with the usual wood movement for a piece of its age. It has some slight cracking /lifting in the face enamel and may exhibit some paint lifting in places.
