Oak Cased Grandfather Clock by Benjamin Lamprey, Burford

About the Item

Benjamin Lamprey Long Case Clock. A wonderful Grandfather clock by the Cotswold clock maker Benjamin Lamprey, Burford. A mid-18th century oak longcase clock with 11-inch square brass dial with black Roman and Arabic numerals, Day of the month Numbers, (Date apature) . inscribed ''Benjn Lamprey Burford', all cornered with cast and pierced foliate spandrels. It has a quality oak case with a elegant square top supported by turned columns and a glass door to the hood with a long rectangular door to the trunk, standing on a plinth base. There is not much known about Benjn Lamprey. Apparently he worked in Banbury, Brackle and a short time in Burford. Dimensions: Height 204 cm / 80 " Width 53 cm / 21" Depth 29 cm / 11 1/2".
