19th Century Egyptian Revival Clock with Bronze Sculpture of Isis

About the Item

A French Egyptian Revival mantel clock, dating to the mid-19th century, is made of polished black marble and patinated bronze. The clock showcases exceptional quality and craftsmanship, using the finest materials, exuding elegance and quality. Surmounted by the priestess Isis cast from bronze, adorned with a gilt headband and intricately tooled clothing, the clock demonstrates remarkable attention to detail. The clock case has a complex architectural design, flanked on each side by bronze Egyptian figures holding tablets, symbolizing the wisdom and power of ancient Egypt. Standing at a height of approximately 65cm, the clock case is embellished with applied figures and mask heads, adding depth and complexity to the overall design. The outer ring of the clock dial features a delicate presentation inscription and the date 1869, adding historical significance to the piece. This inscription connects the clock to the Right Honourable John Bright, a British Radical and Liberal statesman known for his oratory skills and advocacy for free trade policies during the 19th century. Equipped with the original Japy Frères movement, renowned for its quality and precision. In summary, this Egyptian Revival clock, with its exquisite detailing, the combination of black marble and bronze, and the incorporation of ancient Egyptian themes, makes it highly desirable. The clock movement will be professionally serviced before being dispatched. Dimensions: High: 66.5 cm Depth: 17.5 cm Width: 50 cm
