About the Item
A large, superb and very decorative original antique French clock by the famous maker A.D. Mougin. It is boldly modelled in the Rococo style in finely gilded bronze. Asymmetric waisted case, decorated profusely with sweeping acanthus leaves, 'C' scrolls and floral swags. To the top is a large elaborate final of a stylised flaming lamp. A pieced panel to the front allows a glimpse of the pendulum gently swinging within.
The dial is porcelain enamel on copper with its original finely fretted gilt brass hands and convex glass.
The French movement is of high quality and is by A. D. Mougin. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is an old replacement. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. We have a video of the clock running, please ask and we will send you a link.

A Monumental 19th Century Regency Style Gilt-Bronze Inlaid Grand Cartel de Applique, In the Manner of André-Charles Boulle. One such identical piece resides in the Frick Collection in New York, originating from the Dalva Brothers...
