Austrian 18th Century Giltwood and Mecca Blind Mans Clock

About the Item

A handsome early 18th century Austrian giltwood and mecca blind mans clock. The clock , with two separate chimes, one for quarter hour and the other for hour. Raised on a solid base with pedestals on each side displaying a mecca plaque supporting an urn above. A central finely carved central plaque is flanked by laurel leaves. Above is a maiden in classical dress, sitting with a sword in her right hand, after a beheading. The fine enamel dial rests on a handsome capitol supported by columns, and urn shaped finial. Above is a very handsome open winged eagle. All original gilt throughout.
