About the Item

A rare and truly wonderful French Art Deco clock by Marcel Vasseur and F. Martin. If you are looking for a striking and decorative centerpiece for your interior, this sculptural Art Deco clock set is an excellent choice. The harmonious combination of the light-colored onyx base with the patinated wrought iron floral motifs is simply magnificent. The stylized design, so characteristic of the Art Deco period, gives this ensemble a unique and elegant presence. Inspired by nature, and leaves in particular, the French artist beautifully captured the essence of organic forms while remaining faithful to the bold geometric spirit of Art Deco design. Beyond its aesthetic appeal, this clock is also highly practical. The white enameled dial with bold black Art Deco numerals ensures excellent legibility, even from a distance. The movement is from the renowned F. Martin. The clock runs and strikes perfectly and comes complete with its winding key for the 8-day mechanism. Apart from one restored onyx top on the right-hand cassolette (see photos), the set is in very good to excellent condition. This rare and exceptional piece of Art Deco craftsmanship, both decorative and functional, makes a superb statement wherever it is placed, particularly stunning on a fireplace mantel, where its sculptural elegance can truly be admired. Again great value for money. Also, because perfect packing and worldwide delivery from our store to your door in just 4 to 5 days are complimentary. Maximum width x height x depth of the clock: 11.2 x 13.2 x 5.8 inches. Height x diameter of the two cassolette: 8.5 x 5.6 inches. We are driven by a passion for uniqueness, timeless, quality, stylish design, and the enduring craftsmanship of the past. Rare Bronze & Black Marble Clock Set by Deniere A Paris the Philosopher, c.1860
By Maison Deniere
Located in Lisse, NL
Rare & fabulous Antique Napoleon lll clock garniture with incredible quality bronze sculptures. You will rarely see a clock garniture with bronzes of this quality and detail. The bearded thinker/philosopher on top of the marble clock is simply astonishing. His natural poisture, his hair, face and hands, but also his clothes, it is all of a quality and detail that only a master sculptor can achieve. And the patina also is just perfect. The philosopher is marked on the back and it reads 'BE x'. The two bronze female (classical maiden) sculptures are in fact two stunning candle holders and they too stand on beautifully shaped black marble bases with cartouches. These majestic candle holders are marked on the sides 'L.V.E. ROBERT' (Louis Valentin Elias Robert) and on the back they read 'AD x'. The black marble clock comes with a circular dial face with gilt Roman numerals and this clock has a well working movement. The movement is stamped 'DENIERE / A PARIS' and '2165'. On the bottom it reads A.Blacher and there also is a cachet with 'MEDAILLE D'OR / Paris / 1827'. If you like this one of a kind, clock set as much as we do then you will love our price. Especially, since perfect packing (in a custom made crate) and worldwide delivery from our store to your door in just 4 days are complimentary. Maximum clock height x width x depth: 22 x 17 x 8.5 inches. The large figure candle holders...

Art deco clock circa 1920 in wrought iron with floral decoration of very beautiful manufacture. Stamped Fag for Ferronnerie D'art des Galleries (Galeries Laffayette) directed by Marcel Vasseur. Marble base. In perfect condition. The movement works but has not been serviced. Height: 29cm Width: 40cm Depth: 14cm Weight: 10 Kg The Galeries Lafayette department store on Boulevard Haussmann in Paris was inaugurated in October 1912. Soon, it became the second most visited monument in Paris, after the Eiffel Tower. In 1922, the Galeries Lafayette department store opened the "La Maîtrise" applied art studios run by the decorator Maurice Dufrêne, who became its artistic director. The vocation of these workshops is to produce "works" (furniture, fabrics, rugs, wallpapers, ceramics, etc.) within the reach of all (well almost). The decorators and twin brothers Jean and Jacques Adnet, are among the first collaborators. An ironwork section is created under the name of Ferronnerie d'Art Des Galeries. Talented ironworkers participate, such as Marcel Vasseur, who created the ironwork of La Maîtrise Pavilion at the 1925 International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts...
