About the Item

A sensational and high quality French 19th century Belle Epoque Period Louis XVI st. white Carrara marble and Ormolu clock garniture set. This stunning garniture set consists of a clock and a pair of lidded urns raised by Ormolu ball feet decorated with large acanthus leaves supporting the white Carrara marble bases. Each base displays a recessed band decorated with twisted floral Ormolu garlands and trimmed with a beaded border. Atop the marble base of the clock sits an Ormolu cherub and a pair of standing maidens dressed in long flowing robes holding aloft a blue enameled Bronze spherical clock decorated with Ormolu Arabic numerals, hands, and stars. The urns are supported on a circular Ormolu socle of berried laurel and spiral fluted designs leading up to the fluted urn with most handsome faun figures playing the pan flute as handles. The urn is centered by a pan flute reserve surrounded by elaborately tied ribbons and linked to the handles by richly chased berried foliate garlands, and topped with a large acorn finial.
