French Onyx and Champleve Four Glass Mantel Clock

About the Item

French onyx and champleve four glass mantel clock. French mantel clock housed in a hexagonal shaped green onyx case with bevelled glass panels. Fine champleve enamel decoration to all pillars, champleve decoration and fine fretwork to both the top of the case and the plinth and resting on brass feet. Gilded dial with champleve decorated centre, Arabic numerals and original ‘blued’ steel hands, the dial surrounded by diamante decoration. French eight day movement numbered 1631 with anchor escapement striking the hours and halves on a coiled gong. The mercury pendulum with conforming diamante decoration. C.1880
