About the Item

French Ormolu and porcelain mantel clock French ormolu mantel clock standing on a beaded oval base and resting on a mahogany plinth. Floral swag decoration to either side of the dial. The enamel dial with Roman numerals, original ‘blued’ steel hands signed ‘HRY Marc, Paris. Finely painted porcelain panel below the VI featuring heavenly cherubs. Eight day French movement marked for Henri Marc, Paris and numbered 40154, striking the hours and halves on a silvered bell. C.1870 Watchamkers and clockmakers of the world by Brian Loomes lists Henri Marc as working in Paris from early in the nineteenth century until the late 1800’s.
