This exquisite mantel clock is a testament to the pinnacle of French horological artistry during the Louis XV period. Attributed to the renowned clockmaker Lépine, it showcases a harmonious blend of form, function, and artistic expression. The centerpiece of the clock is a captivating sculptural group depicting a reclining female nude figure, believed to be a representation of Venus. The white enamel dial, adorned with Roman numerals, features elegant blued steel hands and bears the signature of the maker, "Lépine."
