Mantel Clock with Apollo, Early 19th Century
About the Item
Large fire-gilded bronze pendulum clock on lion's paws with a rectangular pedestal featuring lyre and torch motifs. Above it rises the full-figure depiction of the god Apollo with a lyre and victory wreath. The clock mechanism is housed in a rectangular case adorned with additional festoons and torch motifs. The dial, with Roman numerals and a finely chiseled wave pattern, is surrounded by a laurel wreath. The clock mechanism will be serviced in advance by a professional clockmaker.
