    French brass Champleve enamel mantel clock. Finely decorated brass and champleve bow fronted case with sky blue ground and floral enamel . Enamel dial with champleve decorated bezel and dial centre. Blue Arabic numerals and original ‘blued’ steel hands. Eight day circular movement with mercury compensated pendulum striking the hours and halves on a coiled gong, the backplate stamped ‘R & Co, made in Paris’. circa 1890 ‘Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World’ by Brian Loomes lists Richard & Co, London, Canon Street 1867-1900. Branch of Richard et Cie, Paris, formally Lemaitre & Bergman. Richard et Cie were one of the smaller Parisian based manufactures known for innovation having a paper published regarding temperature compensation and precision timekeeping.     French white marble and Ormolu mantel clock by Samuel Marti. White marble case with stepped raised plinth with ormolu mounts and beaded decoration surmounted by an ormolu wreath and standing on decorative ormolu feet. Gilded chased bezel with bevelled glass. Enamel dial with floral decoration, Arabic numerals and original gilded hands signed ‘Comptoir General, J.Pratt, Paris, 9 Bd Poissonnies’. French eight day movement with outside countwheel and anchor escapement striking the hours and halves on a silvered bell marked for Samuel Marti. C.1880 The clock was retailed by Le Comptoir General a prestigious decorative and fine art store in France. At this time the Comptoir General was represented by J.Pratt who was located at 9, Boulvard Poissonnies. ‘Samuel Marti & Cie’ were well known French clockmakers working from their premises at Le Pays De Montbeliard Paris from just before 1860. Red tortoiseshell case inlaid with fine brass decoration surmounted by an ormolu finial, ormolu mounts and standing on raised bracket feet. The front of the case with glazed viewing aperture behind a central ormolu mount. The sides of the case decorated with fishscale fret decoration. Gilded and chased dial with individual blue enamel numerals and original ‘blued’ steel hands. Eight day French movement with starburst pendulum, anchor escapement and outside countwheel, striking the hours and halves on a silvered bell. The backplate stamped H & F, Paris and marked for Samuel Marti, Paris, number 4005.
