About the Item

A stunning and high quality French 19th century Empire st. Gris st. Anne, white Carrara marble, and Ormolu clock. This beautiful clock is supported on a circular white Carrara marble base with a receded pierced palmette decorated Ormolu front band above six cylindrical Ormolu feet. Above the marble base stand six caryatids displaying square Gris st. Anne marble bodies with front Ormolu foliate mounts. The stunning sunburst designed pendulum is centered between the legs and displays a wonderful satin and burnished finish. The circular white Carrara marble platform resting atop the heads of the caryatids showcases a wonderful pierced Ormolu gallery which holds six small scaled urns and two maidens holding laurel vines. The clock above is supported by a Gris st. Anne marble pedestal with an Ormolu urn on the front panel. The Ormolu clock is encased within a pierced scrolling edge around the enameled dial with Ormolu hands and black Roman numerals. The top crown is decorated with scrolling foliate designs and two open winged swans.

A charming and high quality French early 19th century Empire st. white Carrara marble and Ormolu clock, signed Veibel a Lyon. This stunning clock is raised on Ormolu topie shaped feet supporting a rectangular marble base. The base is decorated with finely chased Ormolu plaques on three sides, in the manner of Clodion, and with delicate beaded frames. Standing on the base are four Ormolu Doric columns leading up to the Carrara marble entablature decorated with Ormolu pegasi and finely chased beaded trim bands. From the entablature hangs the enameled clock face and mechanism, adorned with a delicate Ormolu frame and richly chased hanging drapery featuring a foliate movements, mythical creatures, and a lovely female mask atop the wonderful sunburst pendulum. The clock is raised by six elegant topie shaped feet below the exceptional and most decorative scallop shaped white Carrara marble base. The base displays an exceptional stepped design and beautiful pierced baluster like wrap around ormolu gallery with a fine twisted ribbon fillet and central rosette. Leading up each side are impressive columns raised by square supports with exceptional concave sides decorated with fitted pierced foliate ormolu mounts, and rosettes encased by unique posts and chains. The columns are each adorned with lovely swaging ormolu fabrics, tassels, and an exquisite array of beaded and twisted ribbon ormolu fillets leading upwards to the superb ball and chain pendants.
