French 19th Century Louis XIV Style Ormolu Clock Stamped ‘DENIERE A PARIS”

About the Item

A most impressive French 19th century Louis XIV st. ormolu clock stamped 'DENIERE A PARIS". The clock is raised by square tapered fluted feet with fine acanthus leaf sabots. At the center is a beautiful scrolled foliate reserve flanked by recessed foliate movements on a hammered design and scrolled elements to each side. The stunning face displays the original fitted enamel Roman numerals. The center complications display the date, lunar phases, and days with striking blue hands all set on an exceptional etched background. Above is a richly chased charming cherub face flanked by rich scrolled foliate designs and ‘Father Time’ sitting on a burnished sphere. The sides have a beautiful honey comb design above richly chased and finely detailed musical instruments. All original gilt throughout.
