About the Item

An impressive and finely decorated French 19th century Louis XVI st. Gris St. Anne marble and Ormolu clock, signed Derniere. This exquisite and high quality clock is raised on an impressive mottled Gris St. Anne marble pedestal supported by bun feet and displaying wrap around laurel and Vitruvian scroll bands. Atop the marble pedestal is a seated Ormolu winged cherub with a quiver of arrows below and an inquisitive bird by his side. To his right is the Ormolu encased clock displaying an elegant enameled dial with Ormolu hands and hand painted hour markers. The cherub is resting his hand on the square clock case while holding a pen and seemingly writing on a richly chased scroll.
