About the Item

A lovely antique painted iron clock dial dating from circa 1890. As reclaimed by our buyer from a derelict building, it bares the scars of a hard life. Beautifully patinated with wonderfully crackled, flaking paint; paint loss, scratches and rust. It has it's ebonized wooden surround, but with no bezel. The hands are beautifully cut steel, their once fine blue finish long succumbed to rust. Originally a mechanical fusee movement, this was damaged and mostly missing. Our clockmaker has skilfully fitted a quartz movement for ease and reliability, while retaining the beautiful original hands, hand washer and winding shaft. We have clear coated the dial to hold the flaking paint securely. A hanging bracket is fitted to the rear. A unique timepiece for anywhere in your home. Measures: 14 3/4 inch in diameter.

    Repaired: A fully working battery quartz movement has been carefully fitted. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. Minor structural damages. Minor fading. Dial has flaking paint, rust, paint loss, bezel is missing, years of patination from use and then neglect. Ebonised surround has losses and marks. Hands are rusty and have years of patina.
