About the Item

Evoking the quiet poetry of abandonment, this early 20th century wall clock blends timeworn elegance with raw industrial character. Made from painted steel to mimic wood grain, the tole frame has aged beautifully — its surface weathered and softened by decades of neglect. The clock’s face, originally produced by the renowned Japy Frères, bears the tactile history of its environment: bubbling paint, rusted patina, and delicate flaking give the dial a hauntingly atmospheric quality. The original slender blued steel hands, now gently oxidized, remain intact, mounted on the preserved winding shaft. While the original mechanical movement was mostly lost to time, our horologist has sympathetically upgraded the clock with a modern quartz battery mechanism, retaining the vintage hands and winding shaft for visual authenticity and ease of use. A striking statement piece for industrial, minimalist, or urban interiors — where the romance of decay meets the precision of restoration. Hands are steel. Clock is steel with original paint / enamel. Rear door is distorted but works fine.
