Early 20th Century Cast Iron and Glass English Church Clock Face

About the Item

Early 20th century cast iron and glass English church clock face We are proud to offer a huge cast iron and milk glass sectioned early 20th century church clock face. Made from a handcrafted cast iron frame, inserts of original milk glass sections, it still has its original copper hand support centralised. A very heavy items as you can imagine, weighting close to 60kg. This example was uncovered in a town hall storage cupboard in Norwich (UK) early this year. A truly wonderfully aged and full of character piece of English time keeping, it would look amazing placed in a retail, restaurant, or large hallway entrance. Note: due to this items size and weight we strongly suggest you get in touch with us before considering a purchase. The logistics of transporting this item globally or outside of the UK would need discussion. Dimensions in inches: H 65” x W 65” x D 2” Age: 1900 - 1910 Material: Glass / Cast iron / Perspex Condition: This item is completely solid in structure and form, aging has taken place over all the surface, which is what gives this item its decorative look. 80% for the original milk glass is still inserted into the cast iron frame, however the main central section where the hands would have once fitted is an aged Perspex and likely replace in the mid-20th century. There a few other old repairs, where the glass has been replaced however this does not detract for the visual look of this item. One section is missing to the bottom right as shown in the photos, this is likely to have been a hatch or access point and likely made from wood or brass to access the clock externally if needed. The old plaster which holds the Perspex and glass sheets in place is also brittle and old as you would expect. The photos aim to represent this items condition as best as possible.

Early 20th Century European Clock Tower Automaton Figures

Early 20th century European clock tower automaton figures We are proud to offer an extremely rare set of European clock tower automaton figures, in the form of Persian / Turkish male dressed figures. Dated from the early 20th century, hand carved from wooden sections and detailed in gesso and paint. In completely original condition, later these figures have been secured to a 19th century ebonized wooden base for display purposes. These figures still have their original mechanisms in place, the metal rods extended from their backs, once pulled raise both hands and head, the mechanism is simple and on a pulley system. It is likely these figures would have been part of a larger group, which would have been animated once the clock tower struck upon the hour. This is the first time we have ever been able to obtain artifacts of this nature, and they are exceedingly rare in completely original form.
