About the Item

- An incredibly rare example of the iconic larger cast iron wall clock made in England by Gent & Co Ltd Leicester, circa 1920. - Beautifully presented, original black hands and fabulous age and wear across the entire face and casing. The dial features the early and rare Roman numerals and are now covered by a new piece of glass. - Almost certainly from an industrial hard working past, this clock has a solid cast iron construction and is extremely heavy, three lugs protrude out from the casing which raise it away from the wall when fixed. The lug at the top has a piece missing. - The clock has maintained its original movement and is supplied with a modern battery Slave Clock Impulse Driver. - 64cm wide, 11cm deep. Gents' of Leicester also known as Gents & Company Limited was established in Leicester, England in 1872 by John Thomas Gent. For over a century, the company was a well-known manufacturer of electrical equipment, in particular, its electric clocks, which were used in public buildings and railway stations all over the world.
