Black Forest carved deer or stag head & antlers mounted on shield plaque, Germany, 1900 Early 20th century Black Forest carved wood stag head with antlers. The antlers and head are all hand carved, mounted onto a shield shape plaque. The amber color eyes look like they are either resin or amber. With a beautiful patina and tactile quality. The craftsmanship is excellent, and very unusual in its proportions. This charming deer / stag head has a very cheeky facial expression. This sculpture is very decorative and would make a fantastic addition to any hunting lodge, hung over a mantel (fireplace) fireplace in a library or office. Great condition wear consistent with age and use. Antlers will be removed for safety and ease of shipping. Size: 49.5 cms width at antlers x 65 cms height x 27 cms depth.
