French Empire Style Ormolu Mounted Marble Desk Stand
About the Item
A stunning French ormolu mounted Empire style marble desk stand dating from the 19th century. This stylish stand is of rectangular shape with rounded polished ends and is made from a thick polished section of black marble with brown veining. The stand is mounted on four ornate ormolu gilded rounded feet with column terminals with a central rounded inkwell with a hinged domed cover and containing its original ceramic liner. The surface of the stand has carved recesses for quill pens with polished recesses for further items to either end of the stand. The desk stand is not marked.
In good condition with some very minor edge chipping and light surface wear and minor staining from use and age.
