English 19th Century Brass Lobster Double Inkwell Registry Dated 1889

About the Item

English 19th century brass full bodied lobster inkwell with hinged carapace that when opened reveals two blown glass inkwells. This rare inkwell is registry dated 1889 and is superbly crafted and detailed. Its large size also makes a design statement that is memorable. Of all of the fine objets that we have in the shop, this inkwell gets more comments and smiles than any thing else (it might also have something to do with our location-coastal Maine-which is the go to place for enjoying lobster). 12" long x 6" wide x 3 1/4" high
