English Victorian Cast Iron Umbrella or Stick Stand Registry Dated 1862
About the Item
English cast iron Victorian umbrella/stick stand. This stand has a young boy carrying an urn with fruit and flowers on his head as the main decorative motif. The drip pan in the base is removable so it can easily be cleaned. There is a registry date mark cast into the pan which denotes 1862 as the registry date. Umbrella stands such as this one were generally found in an entrance hall so one could put a walking stick or umbrella or cane into the stand and not drip it through the house; ergo decorative and useful.
