Jean de la Fontinelle French Art Deco Pottery Figural Ink Stand

About the Item

A stylish French Art Deco pottery inkstand with a seated child in a pierrot clown dress by Jean de la Fontinelle (1900-1974) and dating from around 1930. The pottery inkstand shows a young child in thought and sat on a wall with lidded inkwells to either side and with a pen rest at his feet. The desk stand is decorated in light blue glazes with the usual craquel in the glaze and is signed Fontinelle to the reverse and marked FRANCE under the base and numbered 142. The inkwell liners are missing. In good condition with a couple of very minor glaze chips.
