About the Item

A very fine and unusual gilt bronze letter opener and seal depicting a medieval knight in armour holding a banner. The knight stands upon a scrolling base with one foot on a shield and with plumed helmet behind. He holds the banner on his lance and points to the words engraved upon it "Tout ese Perdu fors l'honneur" loosely translates as “All is lost without honour" among fleur de lys.
